The Mediterranean at Its Most Seductive

Greece is two holidays in one — the ancient wonders and buzzing life of Athens and the mainland, and the white-and-blue island idyll of the Cyclades, the Ionian and Crete. With some 6,000 islands, turquoise seas, ancient ruins and the most generous hospitality in the Mediterranean, it is the region at its most seductive.

At HighStreet Holidays we don't simply book Greece — we pair the islands well: Santorini's caldera with Mykonos or quieter Paros, often with a few days in Athens, with the ferries, flights and transfers handled.

With access to a carefully vetted portfolio, from Santorini cave suites to Ionian villas, we build a Greece trip that finds exactly the right islands for you.

With 6,000 islands, the art of Greece is choosing. Pair a famous name like Santorini with a quieter island, and you have the perfect Greek summer.

Signature Experiences
Moments That Linger
Greece rewards the traveller who chooses the right islands. These are the experiences our clients come home remembering.
Athens & Antiquity
Athens & Antiquity
The Acropolis, the Parthenon and a world-class new museum, with a buzzing food and rooftop scene below — far more than a stopover.
Santorini
Santorini
The caldera, the white villages of Oia and the most famous sunset in the world — cave suites and infinity pools above a flooded volcano.
Mykonos
Mykonos
Whitewashed lanes, chic beach clubs and the Cyclades' liveliest scene — glamour and nightlife with beautiful beaches.
Crete
Crete
The largest, most varied island — Minoan ruins, mountains and gorges, superb food and some of Greece's best beaches and hotels.
The Ionian
The Ionian
Green, lush Corfu, Paxos and the turquoise coves of Zakynthos and Kefalonia — a softer, villa-and-sailing side of Greece.
Food & Island Life
Long tavernas lunches, fresh fish, olive oil and the warmth of Greek hospitality — the unhurried rhythm that defines a Greek holiday.

Best Time to Visit
When to Go
LATE SPRING
May to June
Warm, sunny and uncrowded, with the islands fresh and green — one of the loveliest windows, before the summer heat and peak crowds.
EARLY AUTUMN
September to October
Warm seas and balmy days with thinner crowds — arguably the best all-round time for the islands and Athens alike.
SUMMER
July to August
Hot, lively and at peak prices, with the meltemi wind in the Cyclades — best for committed beach and party seekers; book well ahead.
WINTER
November to March
Athens and Crete stay rewarding, but most smaller islands largely close down — a quiet, low season for the mainland and cities.

Practical Information
Practical Information
Getting There
  • Direct flights from London — around 3.5-4 hours to Athens and the main islands in season (British Airways, Aegean, easyJet)
  • Direct flights also from many regional UK airports
  • Domestic flights and ferries link the islands
  • Greece is 2 hours ahead of the UK
Entry Requirements
  • UK passport holders: visa-free under the Schengen 90/180-day rule (up to 90 days in any 180-day period, counted across all Schengen countries)
  • The EU's Entry/Exit System (EES) is now in operation — on your first entry you give a facial image and fingerprints at the border, rather than a passport stamp
  • ETIAS, a travel authorisation (not a visa), is expected in late 2026 and is not yet required
  • Passport valid at least 3 months beyond your departure
Health & Safety
  • No vaccinations are legally required for entry from the UK
  • A UK GHIC gives access to state-provided healthcare in EU countries — carry it, but it is not a substitute for travel insurance
  • Comprehensive travel insurance is essential
Currency & Local Notes
  • The currency is the Euro (EUR); cards widely accepted, cash useful on smaller islands
  • Tap water is safe in cities but bottled is wise on some islands
  • Tipping is modest and appreciated
  • Greek hospitality is famously generous
