An Ocean of Islands, Far Beyond the Postcard

French Polynesia is one hundred and eighteen islands scattered across an expanse of the Pacific the size of Europe — and far more than its most famous island. There is the lush, mountainous beauty of Tahiti and Moorea; the lagoon of Bora Bora; the diving atolls of the Tuamotus; and the remote, untouched Marquesas, with a Polynesian culture and cuisine found nowhere else.

At HighStreet Holidays we don't simply book one island — we build the island-hopping journey, linking two or three by air and lagoon, with the timing and transfers handled.

With access to a carefully vetted portfolio across the archipelago, from overwater villas to intimate island lodges and lagoon cruises, we build a French Polynesia that goes well beyond the postcard.

Most people fly all that way for one island. The travellers who hop two or three — Moorea, Bora Bora, a Tuamotu atoll — get the trip of a lifetime.

Signature Experiences
Moments That Linger
French Polynesia rewards the traveller who hops between islands. These are the experiences our clients come home remembering.
Tahiti's dramatic green neighbour
Moorea
Tahiti's dramatic green neighbour — jagged peaks above turquoise bays, pineapple plantations, snorkelling with rays, and humpback whales offshore in season. A favourite first island.
The icon
Bora Bora
The icon — overwater villas above an unforgettable lagoon beneath Mount Otemanu. The obvious centrepiece of an island-hopping trip, and worth every word of its reputation.
Rangiroa and Fakarava
The Tuamotu Atolls
Rangiroa and Fakarava — vast ring-shaped lagoons offering some of the finest diving on earth, with sharks, mantas and walls of fish in crystal water.
The lush, mountainous main island
Tahiti
The lush, mountainous main island — waterfalls, black-sand beaches, the markets and culture of Papeete, and the gateway to the rest of the archipelago.
A small-ship or catamaran cruise linking the Society Islands
Lagoon Cruises
A small-ship or catamaran cruise linking the Society Islands — a relaxed way to see several islands without repeated flights and transfers.
The dance, tattoo art, vanilla and black pearls of a living Polynesian culture
Polynesian Culture
The dance, tattoo art, vanilla and black pearls of a living Polynesian culture — and a cuisine blending French finesse with the freshest fish of the Pacific.

Best Time to Visit
When to Go
DRY SEASON
May to October
The cooler, drier Polynesian winter — sunny, less humid, with the calmest lagoons. The best and most popular window for island-hopping and diving; book well ahead.
SHOULDER
May & October-November
Dry-season conditions with fewer visitors and better value — a fine time to catch the islands a little quieter.
WET SEASON
November to April
Hotter and more humid, with heavier showers and a small cyclone risk. Lush, quiet and cheaper, with sun still between the rain.
WHALE SEASON
August to October
Humpback whales gather off Moorea and the Society Islands — a remarkable chance to swim near them (where permitted) within the broader dry season.
