The Birthplace of the Safari

Kenya is the birthplace of the safari, and still its beating heart — the Masai Mara, where the Great Migration thunders across the plains, the elephants of Amboseli beneath Kilimanjaro, and a coastline of white-sand beaches on the Indian Ocean. Few places combine big-game wildlife and beach so easily in one trip.

At HighStreet Holidays we don't simply book Kenya — we route it: the Mara timed to the migration, a second park for variety, and a beach finish on the coast, with the bush flights and transfers handled.

With access to a carefully vetted portfolio, from tented camps in the Mara to beach resorts at Diani, we build a Kenya safari that delivers the wildlife of a lifetime in genuine comfort.

Kenya is where the safari was born. Time your trip to the Migration in the Mara and you'll witness one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth.

Signature Experiences
Moments That Linger
Kenya rewards the traveller who comes for the wildlife. These are the experiences our clients come home remembering.
The Masai Mara
Kenya's greatest reserve — lions, leopards and cheetahs on open plains, and the stage for the Great Migration. The classic, unmissable heart of any Kenya safari.
Kenya migrations
The Great Migration
From around July to October, vast herds of wildebeest and zebra cross into the Mara, braving the crocodile-filled rivers — one of the planet's great natural dramas.
Amboseli & Kilimanjaro
Great herds of elephants beneath the snows of Kilimanjaro across the border — the most iconic backdrop in African wildlife photography.
Samburu & the North
The wild, arid north, home to species found nowhere else in Kenya — Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and the gerenuk — far from the crowds.
The Coast
The white sand and warm Indian Ocean of Diani, Watamu and Lamu — the perfect beach finish to a safari, with diving, dhows and Swahili culture.
Private Conservancies
Exclusive conservancies bordering the Mara — fewer vehicles, night drives and walking safaris, and a direct benefit to local communities.

Best Time to Visit
When to Go
MIGRATION & PEAK
July to October
The Great Migration is in the Mara and the weather is dry — the prime season and the most dramatic game viewing. The busiest and priciest window; book camps well ahead.
DRY SEASON
December to March
Hot, dry and excellent for wildlife across the parks, and ideal for the coast. A superb, slightly quieter alternative to the migration months.
GREEN SEASON
April to June
The long rains bring lush landscapes, newborn animals and the best value, with showers usually short. Quiet, green and rewarding for those who don't mind the odd downpour.
SHORT RAINS
November
Brief afternoon showers, green scenery and fewer visitors — a good-value shoulder window with plenty of fine game-viewing weather.
