The dry winter is prime for safari — thinner bush and animals at waterholes make for superb game viewing in Kruger and the private reserves.

Entry Requirements
- UK passport holders: visa-free, with a free visitor's permit of up to 90 days issued on arrival
- Passport valid 6 months with at least two blank pages
- Onward or return ticket
- Note: strict documentation applies when travelling with minors
Health & Safety
- Most of South Africa is malaria-free; antimalarial precautions are advised only for the far north-east (the Kruger and Limpopo lowveld), mainly in the wetter months
- A yellow-fever certificate is required only if arriving from a risk country
- Good private medical facilities
