The Most Cinematic Country in Africa

Namibia is the most cinematic country in Africa — the towering apricot dunes of Sossusvlei, the wildlife waterholes of Etosha, the eerie Skeleton Coast, and some of the emptiest, starriest landscapes on earth. It is a place of vast horizons and astonishing light, made for the self-drive or fly-in adventurer.

At HighStreet Holidays we don't simply book Namibia — we route it across those distances: the dunes, the coast and Etosha's wildlife, by guided self-drive or fly-in, with the lodges and logistics handled.

With access to a carefully vetted portfolio, from desert design lodges to Etosha camps, we build a Namibia journey through one of the planet's great landscapes.

Namibia is pure cinema — the dunes of Sossusvlei at dawn, the emptiness of the desert, skies thick with stars. Nowhere else looks quite like it.

Signature Experiences
Moments That Linger
Namibia rewards the traveller who comes for the landscapes. These are the experiences our clients come home remembering.
Sossusvlei
Sossusvlei
The towering apricot dunes of the Namib — among the highest on earth — and the ghostly dead trees of Deadvlei, unforgettable at sunrise.
Etosha
Etosha
A vast salt pan and its floodlit waterholes, where elephants, lions, rhino and great herds gather — Namibia's premier wildlife park.
The Skeleton Coast
The Skeleton Coast
A haunting shore of shipwrecks, fog and seal colonies where the desert meets the cold Atlantic — one of the most atmospheric coastlines on earth.
Damaraland
Damaraland
Desert-adapted elephants and rhino, ancient rock art and dramatic rock formations — wild, remote and starkly beautiful.
Adventure
Swakopmund & Adventure
The quirky German-colonial coastal town and the adventure capital — dune boarding, quad biking and scenic flights over the Namib.
Dark Skies
Among the least light-polluted skies on the planet — Namibia's deserts offer some of the finest stargazing anywhere on earth.

Best Time to Visit
When to Go
DRY SEASON & PEAK
May to October
Cool, dry and clear — the prime season, with the best wildlife viewing at Etosha's waterholes and comfortable days for the dunes. The most popular window; book ahead.
SHOULDER
April & November
Pleasant, with greener scenery, fewer visitors and good value — a fine balance either side of the peak.
GREEN SEASON
December to March
The hotter summer rains bring dramatic skies, lush desert and newborn wildlife. Quieter and good value, with occasional afternoon storms.
PHOTOGRAPHY LIGHT
May to September
The clear, dry winter offers the sharpest light and the most striking dune photography at Sossusvlei — pack warm layers for cold desert mornings.

Practical Information
Practical Information
Getting There
  • No direct flights — typically around 14-16 hours via Johannesburg or Frankfurt to Windhoek
  • Connections from major regional UK airports
  • Self-drive and light-aircraft fly-in both work well
  • Namibia is 1-2 hours ahead of the UK
Entry Requirements
  • Since 1 April 2025, UK passport holders need a visa for Namibia — an e-visa online before travel or a visa on arrival (around N$1,600, roughly US$85-90)
  • Apply online in advance to avoid airport queues
  • Passport valid 6 months with two blank pages
  • Return ticket and proof of funds
Health & Safety
  • Antimalarial precautions are advised for the north (Etosha and the Caprivi/Zambezi region), mainly in the wetter months; the central desert and coast are low-risk
  • A yellow-fever certificate is required only if arriving from a risk country
  • Comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation cover is essential
Currency & Local Notes
  • The currency is the Namibian Dollar (NAD), pegged 1:1 to the South African Rand, which is also accepted
  • Cards in towns and lodges, cash for remote areas
  • English is the official language
  • Distances are vast — we plan fuel and driving carefully
