The Arabia That Kept Its Soul

Oman is the Arabia of the imagination — frankincense and forts, wadis and dunes, a coastline of empty beaches and a culture that has kept its character where others chased the skyline. Muscat is low-rise and graceful by royal decree; the Wahiba Sands roll in great amber waves; the Hajar Mountains hide green terraced villages; and off the north coast, the fjords of Musandam cut deep into the rock.

At HighStreet Holidays we don't simply book Oman — we route it: the capital, a night in the desert, the mountains, the coast, each leg handled so the journey flows.

With access to a carefully vetted portfolio of Oman's finest hotels and desert camps, we build a journey through the most authentic country in the Gulf.

Oman is the Arabia that didn't trade its soul for a skyline — and is all the richer for it.

Moments That Linger
Oman rewards the curious like few places in Arabia. These are the experiences our clients come home remembering.
The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the Royal Opera House and the bustle of Mutrah Souq
Muscat & the Grand Mosque
The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the Royal Opera House and the bustle of Mutrah Souq — Muscat is graceful, low-rise and unlike any other Gulf capital, by royal design.
A night in the desert among the amber dunes of the Wahiba
Wahiba Sands
A night in the desert among the amber dunes of the Wahiba — dune drives, a Bedouin welcome and a silence and starscape that stay with you long after.

The 'Norway of Arabia'
Musandam Fjords
The 'Norway of Arabia' — sheer cliffs plunging into deep blue fjords, explored by traditional dhow, with dolphins for company. A world apart in the far north.

Best Time to Visit
When to Go
PEAK SEASON
October to April
The cool, dry season — warm days of 25-30C, comfortable for touring, hiking and the desert. The ideal window, and the busiest; book mountain and desert lodges well ahead.
SHOULDER
April & October edges
Warming up but still workable, with fewer visitors and better rates. Good value either side of the peak season.
SUMMER (VERY HOT)
May to September
Fierce heat across most of the country, 40C and above. Touring is uncomfortable and many head indoors or to the mountains — though hotel rates fall sharply.
THE KHAREEF (SALALAH)
June to September
A genuine summer surprise: while the north bakes, the southern Dhofar region around Salalah turns green and misty under a gentle monsoon, with temperatures around 25C. Arabia's most unexpected escape.
