HAND-VETTED RESORTS

Far More Than a Beach

Spain is far more than a beach — the Gaudí architecture and energy of Barcelona, the art and tapas of Madrid, the Moorish splendour of Andalucía's Alhambra, the food of San Sebastián, and the vineyards of Rioja. Add a long, varied coast and the Balearic islands, and it rewards far more than a week by the sea.

At HighStreet Holidays we don't simply book Spain — we shape the route: a city and Andalucía, a food-and-wine tour, or a city-and-coast combination, with the hotels and fast trains handled.

With access to a carefully vetted portfolio, from Barcelona design hotels to Andalucían paradores, we build a Spain trip that reaches well beyond the resort.

Spain rewards the traveller who goes beyond the beach — Barcelona, the Alhambra, the food of San Sebastián. The culture and cuisine are world-class.

Best Time to Visit
When to Go
SPRING
April to June
Warm, bright and uncrowded — ideal for the cities, Andalucía and the coast before the summer heat, with festivals and blossom.
AUTUMN
September to October
Warm seas, the grape harvest and comfortable city temperatures — an excellent all-round time across the country.
SUMMER
July to August
Hot — very hot inland and in Andalucía — and peak season for the coast and islands. Best for the beach; the southern cities can swelter.
WINTER
November to March
Mild in the south and the Canaries, festive in the cities, and skiing in the Sierra Nevada and Pyrenees — a quiet, varied low season.

Practical Information
Practical Information
Getting There

  • The EU's Entry/Exit System (EES) is now in operation — on your first entry you give a facial image and fingerprints at the border, rather than a passport stamp
  • ETIAS, a travel authorisation (not a visa), is expected in late 2026 and is not yet required
  • Passport valid at least 3 months beyond your departure
Health & Safety
  • No vaccinations are legally required for entry from the UK
  • A UK GHIC gives access to state-provided healthcare in EU countries — carry it, but it is not a substitute for travel insurance

  • Tap water is safe
  • Spaniards dine late (lunch from 2pm, dinner from 9pm)
