The Alps at Their Most Sublime

Switzerland is the Alps at their most sublime — the Matterhorn above Zermatt, the glittering lakes of Geneva and Lucerne, storybook villages and the world's most beautiful train journeys. Compact, immaculate and effortlessly scenic, it pairs mountain grandeur with elegant towns and famously precise comfort.

At HighStreet Holidays we don't simply book Switzerland — we route it by its legendary railways: the Glacier Express, the Bernina and the Jungfrau, linking lakes, peaks and villages, with the hotels and rail passes handled.

With access to a carefully vetted portfolio, from Zermatt grand hotels to lakeside retreats, we build a Switzerland journey of mountains, lakes and unhurried scenic rail.

Switzerland is scenery on rails — the Glacier Express, the Matterhorn, the lakes. Few journeys are as effortlessly, reliably spectacular.

Practical Information
Practical Information

  • Direct flights also from many regional UK airports
  • A superb rail network links everywhere
  • Switzerland is 1 hour ahead of the UK
Entry Requirements
  • UK passport holders: visa-free under the Schengen 90/180-day rule (up to 90 days in any 180-day period, counted across all Schengen countries)
  • The EU's Entry/Exit System (EES) is now in operation — on your first entry you give a facial image and fingerprints at the border, rather than a passport stamp
  • ETIAS, a travel authorisation (not a visa), is expected in late 2026 and is not yet required
  • Passport valid at least 3 months beyond your departure
Health & Safety
  • No vaccinations are legally required for entry from the UK
  • Note that the UK GHIC is not valid in Switzerland, so comprehensive travel insurance is essential
  • Medical facilities are excellent but expensive for visitors
Currency & Local Notes
  • The currency is the Swiss Franc (CHF), not the Euro; cards and contactless are universal
  • Switzerland is expensive — budget accordingly
  • Tap water is excellent
