April-June & September-November
Spring and autumn are the most comfortable for New York and the eastern cities — mild and clear, with autumn colour in the northeast. Summers are hot and humid; winters cold but festive.
CALIFORNIA & THE WEST
April to October
Warm, dry and reliable for the coast, the wine country and a Pacific road trip. The desert national parks are best in spring and autumn, avoiding the fierce summer heat.
FLORIDA & THE SOUTH
November to April
Warm, dry and ideal — the prime season for Florida's beaches and parks. Summer is hot, humid and the Atlantic hurricane season (June to November).
THE NATIONAL PARKS
May to September
