Kuredu Island Resort & Spa

Kuredu is the Maldives' original diving island, running since 1989 in Lhaviyani Atoll, around 145 kilometres north of Malé — a large, relaxed island with a 3.5-kilometre beach. Diving is its heritage and its strength: the Prodivers centre opened with the resort, backed by an on-site hyperbaric chamber and a resident doctor, more than 60 dive sites, a famous turtle house reef and manta access. It also has the Maldives' first golf course, tennis, paddle and a multi-sports field, three pools and two spas. The island splits into three areas to match the guest: a main area for all, a tranquil adults-only Sangu zone with the island's only overwater villas, and a family-focused O zone for ages 12 and over. Accommodation runs to 389 rooms across 16 categories, from garden and beach bungalows to jacuzzi beach villas and a handful of private-pool villas, on packages from room-only to all-inclusive. Reached by a seaplane of around 35 to 40 minutes, or a speedboat of around two and a half hours, it earns its loyal following on diving heritage, space and genuine value.
