The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama

The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama is a vast Moorish clifftop golf-and-Michelin resort at Guia de Isora — a Moorish-pink citadel and rows of villas across a four-hundred-acre finca above the Atlantic, with views to La Gomera. Its nine-restaurant line-up is led by M.B., Martin Berasategui's two-Michelin-star kitchen, and a Michelin-starred Akira Back, while Abama Golf runs a Dave Thomas championship course above the sea and a funicular drops to a private golden-sand beach. Eight pools, a destination spa, the adults-only Retreat and the largest Ritz Kids club in Europe make it golf, Michelin and grand-family at once. The setting is the southwest coast of Tenerife: the finca tumbles down a clifftop to the Atlantic with La Gomera on the horizon, the volcanic cone of Mount Teide rises behind, and whale-and-dolphin trips and ferries to the neighbouring islands leave from along the coast. It is the clifftop golf-and-Michelin finca of Tenerife — distinct from the design-led, most-Michelin-starred Corales at La Caleta and the colonial-village grande dame Bahia del Duque at Costa Adeje.
