The Elephant Camp

The Elephant Camp is a gorge-edge tented camp near Victoria Falls, on a private concession on the edge of the Batoka Gorge, where the tents face the gorge and the spray of the Falls rises in the distance. Its name comes from the elephants it cares for: rescued, orphaned animals looked after in a sanctuary by the Wild Horizons Wildlife Trust, which you meet and learn about on the ground, in an ethical, conservation-led setting. There is also Sylvester, a rescued cheetah and an ambassador for the Trust. Days run on Batoka Gorge sundowners over the spray of the Falls, nature walks and game drives on the concession, and Victoria Falls a short drive away, on a generous all-inclusive. 12 luxury tented suites are gorge-facing, each with a private deck, plunge pool and Falls-spray views, alongside the exclusive-use Elephant Camp West. The Victoria Falls area is a malaria area, so antimalarial precautions are advised. It suits couples, honeymooners and families.
