The Upper House

The Upper House is Hong Kong Island's design haven — an André Fu-designed small-luxury hotel above Pacific Place in Admiralty, conceived as a calm, residential retreat in the middle of the city. Just 117 studios, suites and penthouses are dressed in bamboo and celadon, limestone and woollen textiles, with oversized bathrooms — some around 300 square feet, with limestone soaking tubs and harbour or mountain views — and a complimentary Maxi-bar. The hotel is conceived as an 'upward journey' through more than 400 original artworks to the 49th-floor Sky Bridge, with guided art and sculpture walks. Salisterra, on the 49th floor, brings Michelin-starred chef Jun Tanaka's Mediterranean cooking with harbour views, and wellness is deliberately understated — complimentary group yoga, a 24-hour gym and in-room treatments, with no pool and no standalone spa by design, in keeping with its calm. There is no beach; this is an adult-leaning design hotel in Admiralty, Pacific Place shopping at its foot and Central minutes away. The intimate design choice.
