Zannier Hotels Omaanda

Zannier Hotels Omaanda is Namibia's natural arrival or farewell — a conservation lodge of around ten round Owambo-style huts on a private reserve, about half an hour from Windhoek and its airport. It is important to set the expectation: this is a conservation reserve, not a Big-Five safari. The game drives are for white rhino, antelope, giraffe and zebra; the experiences are tracking white rhino and elephant on foot, sunrise with the meerkats, and a visit to the Shiloh Wildlife Sanctuary to meet the vets behind its rhino and elephant rehabilitation. Each thatched-and-clay hut has a king bed, a walk-in dressing room, an open fireplace and a soaking tub with a view, and there is a savannah spa and a heated infinity pool over a waterhole — a rarity in Namibia. Dining runs from an open-sided thatched lounge to a boma under the stars and a gin bar of local brands. Reached entirely by road, and malaria-free, it suits couples, families and the conservation-minded, with two-bedroom huts and children six and over.
