Dusit Thani Kyoto

Dusit Thani Kyoto opened in 2023 as the Thai group's first hotel in Japan, and it does something unusual with the city — a Thai-Japanese hospitality fusion, modern and full-service, a short walk from Kyoto Station and right beside the World Heritage Nishi Honganji Temple. Around 150 rooms and suites spread over four floors in calm contemporary style, with deep soaking tubs and rainfall showers and a garden at the heart of the building; the corner suites add a view bath. The kitchen is the headline: Ayatana, the signature room, is overseen by Bo Songvisava and Dylan Jones of the MICHELIN-starred Bo.lan, while Kati handles sustainably sourced all-day Thai-Japanese cooking and the Dusit Gallery pours afternoon tea. Devarana Wellness brings Thai-style treatments, there is an indoor pool, and the location is the other draw — twelve minutes from the station for day trips, with Sanjusangen-do, Kiyomizu-dera, Nishiki Market and Gion all close. It is the modern, family-capable, dining-led base in Kyoto.
