Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita was the peninsula's first five-star, opened in 1999 on a private, double-gated headland between the Sierra Madre and the Pacific. Red-tiled Mexican casitas and plunge-pool suites give onto two private beaches and an infinity pool, while two Jack Nicklaus courses — including the famous Tail of the Whale island green — make it a golfer's prize.
