About the Resort
The Serengeti with Four Seasons polish
Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti

The Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is the Serengeti with Four Seasons polish — the largest and most resort-like lodge in the park, set on elevated wooden platforms above two adjoining waterholes in the central Serengeti. Its signature is the free-form infinity pool that looks straight onto an elephant waterhole, so the game viewing starts from the sun-lounger; behind it run 77 rooms, suites and free-standing villas in contemporary African design, with open-air sun decks and deep tubs, up to private villas with plunge pools and a 24-hour attendant. This is the comfortable, family-capable Serengeti pick at scale, not an intimate camp — there is a kids' club, a Discovery Centre on migration and wildlife, and a Maasai Boma for dinner and dancing. Dining spans three restaurants, two bars and a wine cellar, from African cooking at Nuru to the open-fire Boma Grill, and the days run on central-Serengeti game drives, a guided walking safari, hot-air ballooning and the pool. Reached by a light-aircraft hop to Seronera, it suits families and multigenerational groups who want luxury with room to spread out.

“I had stayed at Four Seasons, One&Only and Velaa before visiting Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti. They are all magnificent. But this is different in a way that is hard to articulate.”

Singita Sasakwa Lodge
Tanzania
Singita Sasakwa Lodge
Singita Sasakwa is a grand Edwardian-manor lodge atop Sasakwa Hill, in the 350,000-acre private Singita Grumeti Reserve — part of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem and on the Great Migration path. Around ten units, from one-bedroom cottages to a four-bedroom villa, each carry a private infinity or plunge pool over the plains, alongside manor antiques, fireplaces and four-posters. The private concession means exclusive, low-density game drives and the western-corridor Grumeti-River crossings, while the lodge's own equestrian centre, tennis courts, archery and croquet make it one of the most distinctive ultra-luxury safari icons in Africa — all-inclusive down to premium wines and spirits.
Mwiba Lodge
Tanzania
Mwiba Lodge
Mwiba is Legendary Expeditions' ultra-luxury flagship — a tented lodge set among ancient granite boulders over the Arugusinyai River gorge, in the private 125,000-acre Mwiba Wildlife Reserve in the southern Serengeti. Ten tented suites stand on timber platforms with deep tubs, indoor and outdoor showers and private river-view decks, and an infinity pool is sculpted into the rocks over a waterhole. Private-reserve status means off-road and night drives with your own private vehicle and guide as standard — and the southern Serengeti's calving season (December to April) plus walks with the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers and the Datoga make it exceptionally distinctive.
The Highlands by Asilia
Tanzania
The Highlands by Asilia
The Highlands by Asilia is a design-led camp of canvas-and-glass domes on the forested slopes of the Olmoti Volcano — the highest-altitude property in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Eight Maasai-boma-inspired domes, each with a large curved window and a wood-burning stove for the altitude, look across the mountain forest, with a honeymoon dome that adds an outdoor hot tub. Beyond the Big Five game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater an hour away, the camp specialises in the rarely-visited Olmoti and Empakaai crater hikes — descending to a flamingo-pink soda lake few visitors ever see — and immersive Maasai community experiences.
