Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik

The Hilton Imperial is the historic Old-Town-gate Dubrovnik city hotel — the 1897 Grand Hotel Imperial, the city's first luxury hotel, restored on a hillside just outside the UNESCO walls, a three-minute walk from the Pile Gate. Among the Dubrovnik hotels it is the most year-round, and the only one set in the heart of the city itself. Around 147 rooms carry late-nineteenth-century period charm with modern styling, upper floors looking over the red roofs to the Adriatic, and an Executive Lounge sits over the city walls with an indoor pool and the Beauty Line Spa within. The Imperial Terrace dines Dalmatian and Mediterranean with terrace views, and the lobby bar looks across to Fort Lovrijenac. The location is the whole point: the Pile Gate, the city walls, Lovrijenac and Bokar forts and Sulic beach are at the door, the Stradun and the Old Town's churches and palaces a few minutes on, and the cable car up Mount Srd and boats to Lokrum and the Elaphiti islands are easily reached. It is the heritage city base — distinct from the seafront resorts on Lapad and the clifftop Rixos. Beyond the walls, the cable car climbs Mount Srd for the classic view over the roofs and the Adriatic, and Lokrum island, the Elaphitis and the Peljesac wine road are all easy days out.
