Hotel Alfonso XIII, Seville

Hotel Alfonso XIII is the palatial royal Seville landmark — built by King Alfonso XIII in 1929 to be the grandest hotel in Europe, a Luxury Collection address in the historic Santa Cruz quarter beside the Reales Alcazares and the Cathedral. Its 148 rooms wear Mudejar and Moorish-Andalusian architecture of ceramic friezes, hand-painted tiles, crystal chandeliers and carved ceilings, set around an inner Sevillian courtyard with a fountain and gardens of palms and orange trees. ENA Sevilla brings the Jose Andres Andalusian concept, an outdoor pool and gardens give rare city relief in Seville's summer heat, and a daily property tour ends with a small wine-tasting. The setting is the heart of historic Seville: the UNESCO Reales Alcazares, the Cathedral with its Giralda tower and the grand Plaza de España all lie within a short walk, the lanes of Santa Cruz and the flamenco bars of Triana run close, and the Guadalquivir threads through the city. It is the royal heritage capital of the Spanish page — distinct from the modern, beachfront skyscraper of Barcelona.
