Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort

Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is Finland's original and most famous glass-igloo resort, in the Saariselka fells 250 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, where thermal glass igloos let you watch the northern lights from bed. Around 214 accommodations spread across two villages, from classic glass igloos to Kelo-Glass Igloos that combine a log cabin with a glass-domed bedroom — private sauna, fireplace, kitchenette and full bath, sleeping up to six — and a 310-square-metre Luxury igloo for twelve. The world's largest smoke sauna holds 200, with Lappish dining, an aurora-alarm service and husky and reindeer safaris. The iconic bucket-list igloo stay; for the highest comfort, the Kelo-Glass tiers are the ones to book.

- For private facilities, choose the Kelo-Glass tiers; some classic igloos share facilities.
- Best in the winter months, with an aurora alarm.
- With activity packages.
- Around 30 to 45 minutes from Ivalo airport.
