Mandarin Oriental, Singapore

Mandarin Oriental, Singapore reopened in 2023 after a renovation of more than 100 million dollars, and the result is some of the freshest rooms on Marina Bay. The fan-shaped 1987 tower has been reworked inside so that the design follows the view — cool blues and batik motifs in the Marina Bay rooms, warmer tones toward the sea, botanical prints over the city — across 510 rooms and suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the bay. At the top sit a new Presidential Suite and the four-bedroom Royal Marina Bay Penthouse, billed as Singapore's largest, while the 21st-floor HAUS 65 lounge pours Champagne breakfasts, afternoon teas and evening cocktails. Dining centres on the garden-style all-day embu and the much-loved Mandarin Cake Shop, and the fifth-floor pool looks out over the cityscape. Connected to Marina Square and a short walk from Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands, it is a city hotel with no beach — large, polished and freshly minted — and during the September Grand Prix its rooms and pool overlook the F1 street circuit below. The renovated Marina Bay address.

- The rooms and pool overlook the F1 street circuit — a real seasonal draw in September, and a livelier, noisier weekend during the Grand Prix.
- About 20 minutes by car from Changi Airport.
