About the Resort
A comfortable central-Serengeti base
Meliá Serengeti Lodge

Meliá Serengeti Lodge is the central Serengeti's comfortable, well-priced base — a two-storey hillside lodge on the southern slopes of the Nyamuma Hills, overlooking the Mbalageti River valley and a lagoon, with an infinity pool that looks out over the plains. Fifty rooms spread across two floors, around 33 square metres each with ceiling fans, plus two larger Serengeti Suites for families, and the setting draws migration views in peak season around June and July. It is built with families in mind — interconnecting rooms, two-bedroom suites and a Kids & Co programme — and the model is flexible, not fixed: the lodge is booked on bed and breakfast, with an optional Safari Experience package that adds Seronera transfers, a half-day shared-Jeep game drive and a bush picnic. That makes it a different proposition from the all-inclusive luxury camps — a relaxed, value-minded place to base a Serengeti trip, with the safari arranged as an add-on when you want it. Reached by a light-aircraft hop to Seronera and a short drive, it is the easygoing way into the plains.

“I had stayed at Four Seasons, One&Only and Velaa before visiting Meliá Serengeti Lodge. They are all magnificent. But this is different in a way that is hard to articulate.”

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti
The Four Seasons Safari Lodge is the largest and most resort-like property in the Serengeti — elevated on wooden platforms above two waterholes in the heart of the park. Its signature is a free-form infinity pool that looks straight onto an elephant waterhole, a 'mini-safari' from the water. Seventy-seven rooms, suites and free-standing villas spread across contemporary African interiors, with the villas adding plunge pools and personal attendants. Three restaurants, a wine cellar, the six-room Kani Spa, a Discovery Centre, a Maasai Boma and a kids' club make it the Serengeti's most family-capable luxury option — a polished, comfortable base at resort scale.
The Highlands by Asilia
Tanzania
The Highlands by Asilia
The Highlands by Asilia is a design-led camp of canvas-and-glass domes on the forested slopes of the Olmoti Volcano — the highest-altitude property in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Eight Maasai-boma-inspired domes, each with a large curved window and a wood-burning stove for the altitude, look across the mountain forest, with a honeymoon dome that adds an outdoor hot tub. Beyond the Big Five game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater an hour away, the camp specialises in the rarely-visited Olmoti and Empakaai crater hikes — descending to a flamingo-pink soda lake few visitors ever see — and immersive Maasai community experiences.
LUX Marijani
Tanzania
LUX Marijani
LUX Marijani is a stylish boutique beachfront resort on Pwani Mchangani Beach, on Zanzibar's north-east coast — the natural beach finish to a Tanzania safari. Swahili-Arab architecture brings whitewashed walls, terrazzo tiles and hand-carved Zanzibari doors across around 82 rooms, suites and family rooms. An infinity pool, a private beach and the LUX* ME spa handle the relaxing, while spice-island cuisine — octopus in spiced coconut, mezze — beach BBQs and beach-cinema nights give it character. Spice tours, dhow cruises and Stone Town day-trips are on the doorstep; it's the page's coast finish, sold on its Swahili design and spice-island setting.
