Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort

Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra is the full-facility golf-and-spa base for Angkor — a large French-colonial-style resort in landscaped gardens, about ten minutes from Angkor Wat and a fifteen-minute walk from the centre of Siem Reap. Its 238 rooms and suites blend French and Khmer design, with polished wood floors and balconies in the Luxury Rooms, a Club Millésime lounge and the premier Opera Suite. The differentiator is the 18-hole Phokeethra Country Club, a championship course on the doorstep, and a big outdoor pool with a swim-up bar anchors the gardens. So Spa runs Khmer massages, herbal scrubs, mud wraps and rice-body polishes; Royal Court serves Cambodian cooking and Mouhot's Dream the French; and the resort carries some of the country's largest event spaces, for up to six hundred. It is bigger and more conventional than the in-town design hotels, and the walk to town is a little further — but for golf, families and full resort facilities near the temples, this is the Siem Reap choice.
