Seventeen Thousand Islands

Indonesia is seventeen thousand islands, of which most visitors see only one — and there is so much more than Bali. There is Java, with the great Buddhist temple of Borobudur and the sultans' city of Yogyakarta; Komodo and its dragons; the diving paradise of Raja Ampat; and the quieter beaches of Lombok and the Gili Islands.

At HighStreet Holidays we open up the wider archipelago. We shape a route through temples, volcanoes, reefs and islands, with the internal flights and boat journeys handled for you.

With a carefully vetted portfolio of the best lodges, dive resorts and retreats, we build an Indonesia beyond the obvious — a journey through one of the most extraordinary island nations on earth.

Everyone knows Bali. The travellers who go one island further — Java, Flores, Raja Ampat — come back with the stories no one else has.

Best Time to Visit
When to Go
DRY SEASON
April to October
The dry season across most of the archipelago — the best window for Java's temples and volcanoes, Komodo and the islands, with sunny days and calm seas. The peak months are July and August.
WET SEASON
November to March
Warmer and wetter, with afternoon downpours — lush, quiet and cheaper, and still fine for travel with some planning. We route around the heaviest weather and busiest islands.
RAJA AMPAT DIVING
October to April
Raja Ampat runs to its own calendar — the prime diving window is roughly October to April, when seas are calm and visibility is at its best. We time any dive trip to it.
A VAST ARCHIPELAGO
Year-round
Indonesia stretches across three time zones and both sides of the equator, so conditions vary island to island. There's nearly always somewhere in season, and we plan your route around it.
