An Entire Trip's Variety in One Island

Sri Lanka packs an entire trip's worth of variety into one teardrop island. In a week you can move from the cultural triangle's ancient cities and the rock fortress of Sigiriya, up through emerald tea country on a railway that ranks among the world's most beautiful, to leopard safaris at Yala and a long finish on golden southern beaches.

At HighStreet Holidays we don't simply book Sri Lanka — we route it around the monsoon, linking the highlands, the wildlife and the right coast for your dates.

With access to a carefully vetted portfolio from colonial tea bungalows to beach hideaways, we build a Sri Lanka that delivers culture, wildlife and shore in a single seamless loop.

Sri Lanka gives you a dozen holidays in one island — and a welcome so warm you'll wonder why it took you so long.

Moments That Linger
Sri Lanka rewards the curious like few islands on earth. These are the experiences our clients come home remembering.
The Lion Rock
Sigiriya
The Lion Rock — a fifth-century fortress-palace on a sheer column of stone, with frescoes, water gardens and a summit view across the jungle. The highlight of the cultural triangle.
The ride through tea country to Ella ranks among the world's most beautiful railway journeys
The Hill-Country Train
The ride through tea country to Ella ranks among the world's most beautiful railway journeys — past emerald terraces, waterfalls and the Nine Arches Bridge.
Yala has one of the highest leopard densities on earth, alongside elephants, sloth bears and crocodiles
Leopard Safari at Yala
Yala has one of the highest leopard densities on earth, alongside elephants, sloth bears and crocodiles — a genuine wildlife highlight, by open jeep.
The cool highlands around Nuwara Eliya
Tea Country
The cool highlands around Nuwara Eliya — emerald estates, colonial bungalows and a tasting at a working factory. A different, gentler Sri Lanka.
Golden sand from Galle to Mirissa, with whale watching offshore (in season) and the colonial charm of the Galle Fort
The Southern Beaches
Golden sand from Galle to Mirissa, with whale watching offshore (in season) and the colonial charm of the Galle Fort. The perfect end to a touring trip.
The Temple of the Tooth in the hill capital of Kandy
Kandy & the Temple
The Temple of the Tooth in the hill capital of Kandy — Sri Lanka's holiest Buddhist site, set by a lake, alive with ceremony and drumming.

Best Time to Visit
When to Go
WEST, SOUTH & HILLS
December to March
Dry and sunny on the popular southwest coast, the cultural triangle and tea country — the prime season, and the busiest. Book the best beach hotels ahead.
EAST & NORTH
May to September
When the southwest is wet, the east coast (Trincomalee, Arugam Bay) comes into its own — the island always has a dry side.
SHOULDER
April & October
Between the monsoons — variable but often fine, with fewer visitors and better value.
TWO MONSOONS
Year-round
The southwest (Yala) monsoon (May-Sep) and the northeast (Maha) monsoon (Oct-Jan) mean the weather depends on which coast you're on — so we route your trip to the side that's dry.
