Aman Venice

Aman Venice is the ultra-exclusive Grand Canal palazzo hotel — just twenty-four rooms and suites in the sixteenth-century Palazzo Papadopoli, where guests sleep beneath original, museum-quality Tiepolo frescoes. Behind its walls lie two of Venice's rarest private gardens and a roof terrace, and arrival is by water at a private canal dock for gondola or boat. A contemporary Jean-Michel Gathy design plays against the gilded, frescoed historic salons, the dining is flexible all-day across three piano-nobile rooms, and Aman arranges exclusive after-hours access to the Doge's Palace. The largest suites overlook the Grand Canal or the gardens, the Alcova Tiepolo Suite reaching around a hundred square metres beneath a Tiepolo ceiling. The setting is the Floating City at its most rarefied: a two-minute walk reaches a vaporetto stop and Piazza San Marco, the Rialto, the Basilica and the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello are close, and the Biennale, the Film Festival and Carnival fill the calendar in season. This is Venice at its most intimate.
