Bumi Hills Safari Lodge

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is a lakeside change of pace, high on a cliff above Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe's north — one of the world's largest man-made lakes — looking over the water and the shoreline where elephants come to drink. It is worth setting expectations: this is more relaxation and water-safari than the intensive Big-Five game-drives of a bush camp. The lake is the point — boat and lake cruises, catch-and-release tiger fishing, elephants on the shoreline, and a clifftop infinity pool over the water — with game drives and walks there if you want them. Ten lake-view suites each have a private viewing deck, a freestanding bath and a plunge pool over the lake, alongside the exclusive-use Baobab Villa, with a spa and fine dining on the terrace and under the stars, all-inclusive. The Lake Kariba area is a malaria area, so antimalarial precautions are advised. It suits couples and families after a relaxed counterpoint, to pair with a Falls or bush stay.
