Constance Prince Maurice

At just 89 suites and villas, Prince Maurice is the quietest of the Constance pair — an intimate, deluxe peninsula of 148 acres on the east coast, set between a natural lagoon and the ocean. Its rarities are genuine: a handful of Junior Suites stand on stilts over a protected fish reserve, a Mauritius rarity, and Le Barachois, the resort's floating restaurant, is reached through the mangroves and set out over the lagoon — the island's only one. A cellar of around 25,000 bottles backs the table, and the Sisley-inspired Constance Spa keeps an adults-only quiet pool. The accommodation runs from garden and beachfront junior suites to family suites with a children's room, nine beachfront villas with private pools, and the 350 m² Princely Villa with its own beach. Two championship courses at sister resort Belle Mare Plage are part of the appeal. On a bed-and-breakfast or half-board base, with all-inclusive and golf packages available, around an hour by road from the airport, it suits couples, honeymooners and families who want quiet over scale.
