Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich

The Mandarin Oriental Savoy is Zurich's oldest grand hotel, reborn — an 1838 landmark directly on Paradeplatz, restored and reopened in 2023 and named GaultMillau Hotel of the Year 2025. Its eighty rooms and suites wear a Tristan Auer design that layers heritage and contemporary wood, leather and velvet, many with terraces or private rooftops and views to the Alps or across the city, with a four-bedroom suite reaching around two hundred and seventy-five square metres. The 1838 rooftop bar opens an Alps-and-city panorama with a living green wall, ORSINI brings Michelin-level Italian from an Antonio Guida concept, the Savoy Brasserie runs all day, and afternoon tea is taken in the Mandarin Lounge by the fireplace. The setting is the heart of old Zurich: the hotel stands on Paradeplatz at the head of the Bahnhofstrasse luxury-shopping mile, steps from Lake Zurich, the lanes of the Old Town and the Grossmunster and Fraumunster churches, with the airport only ten to fifteen minutes away. It is the grand, heritage face of the city — the counterpoint to the modern, art-led Park Hyatt across town.
