North Island

North Island is private-island living at its rarest: eleven hand-built villas spread across 201 hectares and four beaches, north of Mahé, reached by helicopter and run on a near-all-inclusive basis. It is operated by Wilderness, the conservation-led safari group, and the island's Noah's Ark programme has rewilded it for native species — giant tortoises, white-eyes and sea turtles among them — so a stay carries genuine purpose alongside the seclusion. Ten Beachfront Villas of around 450 m² sit screened in vegetation with their own plunge pools, and the larger Villa North Island crowns the granite boulders. Days are yours to shape: your own stretch of beach, the 45-metre infinity pool, the house reef, or in-villa spa treatments, with dining set up anywhere on the island. Children under 17 stay free and villas have a separate children's pavilion, so it works for families as much as for honeymooners. It is among the most exclusive addresses on earth, and priced on application.
