About the Resort
A Sicilian golf, spa and beach family resort
Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte Hotel

Verdura Resort is Rocco Forte's full-scale Sicilian flagship — a two-hundred-and-thirty-hectare golf, spa and beach estate on Sicily's southwest coast and the number-one family resort on the island. Two championship links-by-the-sea golf courses and a nine-hole par-three draw golfers, a four-thousand-square-metre spa with four outdoor thalassotherapy pools draws spa-goers, and around two kilometres of private beach, a sixty-metre infinity pool and a four-hundred-and-fifty-square-metre kids' club to age sixteen make it a natural multi-generational base. Its 203 rooms, suites and villas wear Olga Polizzi interiors of Sicilian terracottas and ochres, with sea-view balconies and terraces and private pools on the villas. Eight restaurants run from Sicilian to Japanese under chef Fulvio Pierangelini, with an organic farm behind them, and bed-and-breakfast includes breakfast, the spa, the beach, the golf range and bicycles. The setting is deep Sicily: the Greek temples of Agrigento's Valley of the Temples and the ruins of Selinunte sit on the doorstep, with the town of Sciacca and the wider island beyond. It is the active beach, golf and culture resort.

Dining
Eight restaurants run from the Sicilian cooking of L'Osteria by Fulvio Pierangelini to beachfront Amare, trattoria-and-pizza Liola and a Japanese table, with an organic farm supplying the kitchens. It is generous, varied dining for a full-scale coastal resort, much of it grown on the estate's own organic farm. Belmond Hotel Caruso
Italy
Belmond Hotel Caruso
Belmond Hotel Caruso is the iconic Amalfi Coast clifftop hotel — a restored 11th-century palazzo at the highest point of Ravello's cliff, around 365 metres above the sea, with what is often called the world's most photographed infinity pool, seemingly suspended between sea and sky. Its 50 rooms carry original 18th-century frescoes, vaulted ceilings and private terraces over the coast. Complimentary daily boat excursions aboard the hotel's wooden Ercole run to Amalfi and Positano, the 100-year-old gardens spill with roses and lemon trees, and Pompeii, Capri and Positano are close. A wellness centre, vintage Vespas and helicopter flights complete the romance. The Amalfi icon — seasonal, at its best in the warmer months.

Grand Hotel Tremezzo
Grand Hotel Tremezzo is the iconic Lake Como grand hotel — a canary-yellow 1910 Art Nouveau palace on the western shore facing Bellagio, family-run across three generations. Its signature is the "Water on the Water" floating pool, heated and set out on the lake itself, one of three pools alongside the gardens and an indoor infinity pool. T Beach recreates a 1950s-Riviera lakefront club, vintage wooden speedboats carry guests to the lake's hidden villas — Carlotta, Bellagio, Balbianello — and the 1,000-square-metre T Spa fills an 18th-century villa with hammam, sauna and an indoor pool. Around 90 rooms look over the lake or gardens. The Como icon — seasonal, open in the warmer months.
Four Seasons Hotel Firenze
Italy
Four Seasons Hotel Firenze
The Four Seasons Firenze is the Renaissance-palazzo Florence hotel with something the city almost never offers: space. Set in the 1473 Palazzo della Gherardesca, it wraps around the Giardino della Gherardesca, Florence's largest private garden — around 11 acres of centuries-old trees and sculpture, an urban oasis a 10-minute walk from the Duomo, Uffizi and David. Its 116 rooms, no two alike, span the Renaissance palazzo and a reimagined former convent, with frescoes, reliefs and marble baths. Michelin-starred Il Palagio anchors the dining, a garden spa and outdoor pool the wellness, and the hotel sits among the World's 50 Best. The art capital, with a green retreat at its heart.
